Game

Game is any animal hunted for food which is not normally domesticated. Game animals are also hunted for sport.

Feeding Programs/Management

Game farming is the intensive management of the production of animals in fenced farms on private land usually for the production of marketable products such as meat, hides, feathers, skins, trophies and tourism.
Game Farming is becoming a more viable way of utilising farms in Zambia.

There are parts of most large farms in the country which are not suitable for commercial farming but can be used for game farming.
Wildlife has always thrived on our land which we consider commercially unviable.

Wildlife can compete favorably with cattle production in Zambia. In the longer term the inherent biological, ecological and physiological advantages of wild animals, and the fact that wildlife has added value in terms of products other than meat, may one day make wildlife production more profitable than beef in many areas in Africa.

Once we fence off our land and stock it with wildlife then we must be responsible for our animals’ welfare. This includes good supplies of water, grazing, security and supplements in the dry season.
